Here is an interesting story about a Noah’s Ark Theme park. The ABC News video title is very negative - Noah’s Ark Tourist Attraction Sparks Debate. The NY Times story (if you can believe it) is much more balanced, In Kentucky Noah’s Ark Theme Park is Planned. KY’s Governor, who happens to be a democrat, supports this plan as a good investment for the state. Others from out of state are trying to make the case that the state should not be funding this amusement park because of it’s religious theme.
If this was a Zappos or Amazon distribution center the Governor would be applauded for bringing 900 new jobs to the state. Because it involves Noah’s Ark its the source of debate.
A rendering of a park centered on Noah’s ark, seen below in a 19th-century woodcut, planned for Grant County, Ky. Besides the ark, it would include a Tower of Babel, a first-century village and a journey through the Old Testament.
Facing a rising tide of joblessness, the governor of Kentucky has found one solution: build an ark. Gov. Steven L. Beshear said that he was elected “to create jobs,” not “to debate religion.”
Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There’s always one reason
To feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There’s vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack
It don’t make no difference
Escaping one last time
It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees
In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
I was walking home from school on a cold winter day.
Took a shortcut through the woods, and I lost my way.
It was getting late, and I was scared and alone.
But then a kind old man took my hand and led me home.
Mama couldnt see him, but he was standing there.
And I knew in my heart, he was the answer to my prayers.
Chorus
Oh I believe there are angels among us.
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours.
To show us how to live, to teach us how to give.
To guide us with a light of love.
When life held troubled times, and had me down on my knees.
Theres always been someone there to come along and comfort me.
A kind word from a stranger, to lend a helping hand.
A phone call from a friend, just to say I understand.
And aint it kind of funny that at the dark end of the road.
Someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope.
Chorus
They wear so many faces, show up in the strangest places.
To guide us with their mercy, in our time of need.
